Since Henry Griffin started SouthernAg Carriers in 1990, he has assembled a management team that is focused on providing the quality of service that SouthernAg has become known for and on maintaining a work environment that has all of our 275+ employees feel like family.
John Kenneally is the Chief Executive Officer for Southern Ag Carriers, Inc. With 19 years of experience, John has developed a strong understanding and passion for the value of the truck driver. Something he feels is overlooked too often in an industry that cannot survive without them. His strong strategic and analytical skills coupled with having started in the industry as a driver has provided invaluable insight into how to not only run successful companies but relate to everyone at every level. John has experienced all the highs and lows of the trucking industry from being part of growing a business from $250mil to $2bil in annual sales to dealing with bankruptcy and liquidation both in the public and private sector. Prior to becoming CEO of SoAg, John was President & CEO of HVH Transportation, FTI Transport and Kansas Continental Express, Vice President of US-Operations for Dicom and Vice President of Transportation for Roadrunner Freight. All companies are/were Private Equity owned and John’s entire career has been working with PE firms on their portfolio companies performance. He began his career with Two Men and a Truck moving company in 2001. John also serves on the Board of Directors for Southern Ag Carriers. He attended North Carolina State University and currently resides in North Carolina with his wife and 3 young children.
Chief Financial Officer
Paula Johnson, CPA, is the Chief Financial Officer for Southern Ag Holdings, Inc. Paula has been a senior accounting and financial management executive for 20 years. Paula has solid leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with all levels of an organization. She has led many data migrations in the manufacturing and transportation industries. Paula has extensive experience in building a reliable accounting system by leveraging the full potential of programs such as SAP, McLeod, and Microsoft Dynamics. Before coming to Southern Ag, Paula was the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager for the pecan division of Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts, a division of ADM. Working under the umbrella of a company that generates more 3.4 billion in profits provided a wealth of experience, including data analysis, forecasting, and cost control. From 2003 to 2015, Paula was the CFO for Harrell Nut Company. She aided in the growth of the company, becoming a multi-million-dollar company that was attractive for a buy-out. While at Harrell Nut, she was also instrumental in company restructuring and legacy planning. Paula believes that team development and communication is critical to the success of an organization.
Todd O Griffin
Todd O Griffin has been with Southern Ag since May 13th, 1992. Prior to joining Southern Ag, Todd served in the United States Air Force and is now a Veteran of the Armed Forces. Throughout His Career at Southern Ag, Todd has served in various capacities. He spent His 1st year and a half in the Maintenance Dept, then moved into Dispatch. He was in Dispatch for 3-4 years and then moved into an Operation Management Role for 2-3 years. At this point, He spent 2 years in Recruiting. He moved back into the Operations and helped in the startup of Nationwide Brokerage. After 2 years in Brokerage, He moved back as the Director of Operations. He now serves as the VP of Operations and is located at the Sylvester, GA Terminal.
DIR HR & Admin
Brooke Johns serves as Director of Administration and Human Resources with over 22 years of experience. As Director of Administration, Brooke manages all functions of billing and payroll. In her HR role, she provides guidance on general human resource compliance issues as well as oversees policy and procedure implementation. She also supports the staffing of all positions across the company. In 2013, Brooke led the team to be the first transportation common carrier to become SQF certified in the U.S. She continues to serve as the companies certified SQF practitioner in a very demanding environment. Brooke started her career at Southern Ag as a safety assistant. She has seen the company grow from a 130-truck operation to over 200 trucks today. She lives in Leesburg, Georgia, with her husband and two children.
A highly decorated veteran of the United States military, Curtis served 8 ½ years in the Marine Corps before decision to join the civilian workforce in May 2017. Curtis obtained his diploma from Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head Maryland in May 2008, and shortly after, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Curtis has a diverse background of professional training attained while serving on active duty in the Marine Corps. He has completed rigorous training on UH-AH Powertrains, Rotors, and related systems O-Maintenance and moreover, completed Corporal’s Course, Sergeant’s Course, and has a Yellow Belt in Lean Six Sigma. Upon Curtis’ honorable discharge, he held the rank of SGT 6114, 6018, in his military occupational specialty as an H-1 Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative/H-1 Observer. He joined the ranks of HVH Transportation in May 2017 and has served as the Manager of Maintenance and Outside Repairs and Director of Operations and Maintenance. He joined the Southern AG Family Jan 2020 as the Director of Maintenance. In his spare time, Curtis enjoys spending time with his family, working out, hunting, and being outdoors.
Curtis L. Echols III, CDS, CRM, is the Safety Director for Southern Ag Carriers. He is an active duty US Army veteran who completed training with the 1/507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Curtis has completed the Safety and Health Management Program at GA Tech and espouses the theory of Behavior Based Safety. He sees Safety as a value rather than a priority, because priorities can change. Prior to his introduction to the transportation industry, Curtis was a contract manager with Aiken Global Group, LLC an environmental services firm. There he dealt with OSHA, industrial hygienists, and became astute at assembling groups of safety professionals to complete civilian and government projects.
Curtis is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and attended Florida A&M University.
Devin Griffin, Recruiting Manager at Southern AG Carriers, has been with the company a total of 4 years. The first and most important responsibility is to help grow Southern AG by hiring drivers and oversee the onboarding process. People skills, open communication, and utilizing the tools provided to get the job done are the key factors in the building success of this company.
Prior to the company, being a certified CrossFit trainer, he served as head coach at World Camp CrossFit for six years while adding another two years of head coaching at Phoebe CrossFit where he help organize and start up the facility within the Phoebe Putney Corporation. With this experience, he gained many team building skills but ultimately helped him in a leadership role that reflects in the day to day duties here at Southern AG.
